HISTORY
“However, My servant Caleb, because a different spirit is with him and he is wholeheartedly behind Me, I will bring him into the land where he went—his offspring will inherit it.”
Numbers 14:24
1996–2004
Caleb Company (now Caleb Global) was born during the final year of Don Finto’s 25-year pastorate at Belmont Church in Nashville. Following the Jesus Movement, Don felt called to engage the developing Messianic Jewish movement and invest his remaining years in raising up the next generation of leaders. The name “Caleb Company” honored the biblical Caleb for four reasons: to challenge older believers to keep taking their mountains, in recognition that Caleb’s descendants inherited the land, to reflect his wholehearted devotion to the Lord, and to raise up Kingdom warriors committed to passionate pursuit of Jesus. During this time, Don was invited to serve on the boards of two international organizations: Toward Jerusalem Council II (which promotes reconciliation between Jewish and Gentile believers) and Tikkun (an apostolic Messianic Jewish ministry based in Israel).
2005–2009
Caleb’s growth accelerated when Don met Tod McDowell in February 2005 while teaching at YWAM’s base in Kona, Hawaii. Tod and his family brought extensive experience from YWAM’s President’s Council and Biblical Studies program, but had not yet encountered God’s heart for Israel. Through divine encounters, prophetic words, and timely calls, Don and Tod began traveling and teaching together. This partnership led the McDowell family to relocate to Nashville, with Tod becoming director of the ministry. During this season, Caleb launched training schools, internships, and international outreach teams, multiplying their impact.
2010–2019
The ministry relocated to Thompsons Station, Tennessee, where we expanded into three houses hosting offices, training schools, programs, and a prayer room. The Lord called Caleb to create “weapons of mass instruction,” inspiring us to expand training schools, launch online offerings, and travel to ministries and discipleship bases worldwide. As our connection with Israel deepened, we leased an apartment in the heart of Jerusalem. Our relationships with both Jewish and Arab believers throughout Israel grew significantly during this transformative decade.
2020–2023
In 2020, Caleb Company felt called to focus on revival and to go global in our bases of operation. Through much prayer, we shifted our name to Caleb Global. During this time, our key programs included an annual Israel tour and a three month School of Revival, focused on equipping believers with God’s heart for Israel and its connection to world revival.
2024–present
2024 was a strategic year for Caleb Global. We established a base in Jerusalem to continue building relationships with indigenous believers in Israel. We condensed our training schools into weekend “Why Israel?” intensives to equip more believers, and shifted our tours to be ministry-focused—sharing the good news and providing humanitarian aid. To better reflect our organization’s focus, we clarified our mission: Activating the Church to Bless Israel. This means calling believers from passivity to action and blessing Israel through the gospel, intercession, humanitarian aid, and reaching their neighbors. We’re grateful for our history. We’re excited about our future. Join our story as we activate the Church to bless Israel.
